The Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe (RPAZ) is a statutory body established under the Radiation Protection Act [Chapter 15:15] of 2004 with a mandate to protect people and the environment against effects of radiation.
The Authority is hereby reminding all users of ionising radiation and radiation related equipment to start processing their licence renewals for 2016 in line with the provisions of Statutory Instrument 134 of 2012. The renewal for the year 2016 licences is now open as from October 1, 2015.
All authorisations issued by RPAZ in line with the Radiation Protection Act [Chapter 15:15] expire on the 31st of December of each year and all licensees must be renewed on or before the 1st of January 2016. Any application for renewal submitted after this date shall attract a 30% penalty fee charged in accordance with Statutory Instrument 106 of 2011.
It is illegal to operate radiation emitting devices without a licence from the Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe and all such entities are required to regularise their operations with the Authority with immediate effect.
