Renewal of Licences for the period January – December 2017

The Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe (RPAZ) is a statutory body established under the
Radiation Protection Act [Chapter 15:15] of 2004 with a mandate to protect people and the environment
against effects of radiation.

The Authority is hereby reminding all users of ionising radiation and radiation related equipment to start
processing their licence renewals for 2017 in line with the provisions of Statutory Instrument 134 of 2012.
The renewal of licences for 2017 licences will open as from October 1, 2016.

All authorisations issued by RPAZ in line with the Radiation Protection Act [Chapter 15:15] expire on the
31st of December of each year. All licences must be renewed and displayed in a prominent place in the
facility from the 1st of January 2017.

It is illegal to operate radiation emitting devices without a valid authorization. RPAZ will take necessary
enforcement actions to those who will be found operating illegally as from 1 January, 2017. All facilities
are therefore urged to submit applications for renewal in time and collect their 2017 authorisations by 16
December, 2016.
