Operating a Density Gauge in Zimbabwe: Key Regulatory Requirements

If you’re planning to operate a density gauge in Zimbabwe, here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Import Permit:

To import a density gauge, complete an application form from the Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe (RPAZ). Attach the following documents, which you can obtain from the supplier:

– Source certificates

– Leak test certificates

– Return to supplier agreement letter

A fee is required to process the import permit.

  1. Registration & Authorization:

After importing the gauge, it must be registered and authorised for use in Zimbabwe. This will only be done after a verification inspection. You’ll need to:

   – Complete a registration form

– Apply for personnel monitoring devices (Dosimeters) for operators to track radiation exposure levels.

  1. Radiation Protection Program:

Submit a Radiation Protection Program, outlining how radiation safety will be maintained during the use, transportation, and storage of the gauge.

  1. Radiation Safety Officer:

Provide a radiation safety training certificate for the individual nominated as the Radiation Safety Officer for the gauge.

Note: While RPAZ does not offer competence training, we can direct you to relevant institutions outside Zimbabwe where training is provided.
